Ingredients

There’s a printable recipe card for these baby potatoes in air fryer below. But here are the four simple ingredients you will need to make them:

  • Baby Potatoes: New Potatoes and Charlotte Potatoes will also work fine.
  • Olive Oil: You could also use avocado or vegetable oil if you prefer.
  • Dried Rosemary: Or you could finely chop fresh rosemary instead.
  • Sea Salt: I prefer Maldon salt flakes

And that is literally it, making these baby potatoes naturally gluten free and vegan.

How to cook baby potatoes in air fryer

There’s a printable recipe card below with the method. But here are some step-by-step photos to show you how easy these air fryer baby potatoes are to make.

Chop any larger potatoes in half, and leave the rest whole, so all the potatoes/potato pieces are a similar size. Add to a bowl.

Drizzle over the olive oil and add the dried rosemary and sea salt flakes. Mix well so that the potatoes are completely coated in oil.

Add to the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd it. The potatoes will need to be in a single layer with space between them.

If you have a small air fryer you may need to cook this in batches – if you don’t have gaps between the potatoes they won’t crisp up.

Air fry at 200C (392F) for 15-18 minutes, shaking them half way through cooking. They should be golden brown, and tender enough that a dinner knife should easily go through the largest piece. Serve straight away while still hot.

Storing and Freezing

These air fryer potatoes are best eaten fresh, but any leftovers can be kept in the fridge for a couple of days in an airtight container.

You could eat them cold, turn them into a breakfast hash, add them to salads or reheat them in the air fryer or oven before eating.

You can also freeze them. I recommend reheating them thoroughly in the air fryer or oven to crisp them back up before eating.

Variations

I absolutely love the simplicity of having rosemary salted potatoes. But you can easily add different flavours to your potatoes depending what you’re serving them with.

  • Cajun Baby Potatoes: Instead of rosemary and salt, add a teaspoon of cajun spices and mix well, for a spicy and smoky baby potato.
  • Garlic Baby Potatoes: Add half a teaspoon of garlic granules to the recipe for a delicious garlic twist. You could also toss the cooked potatoes in garlic butter.
  • Smoky Baby Potatoes: Omit the rosemary and add 1 tsp each of smoked paprika, dried oregano, plus half a teaspoon of garlic powder for smoky potatoes.
  • Herby Baby Potatoes: Add some of your other favourite herbs including dried thyme, sage or oregano for an extra herby twist on these baby potatoes in air fryer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some FAQs about this easy baby potatoes recipe. If you can’t find the answer to your question here or in the post above, please comment and I’ll try answer!

Do I have to boil baby potatoes before air frying?

No! These baby potatoes can be added straight to the air fryer and cooked without needing to parboil them first. Because they’re so small they cook nicely through in a short amount of time – much quicker than in the oven.

Can I cook whole baby potatoes in air fryer?

Yes you can! I like to cut the larger ones up so they are all a similar size and cook through at the same time. Otherwise the little ones might be overcooked by the time the big ones are done. But if they are all the same sort of size, you can just chuck them in whole.
