Christmas dinner can seem like a minefield when you’re gluten free, but actually it can be really easy – by making all your Christmas Dinner Sides completely coeliac-safe! These easy, gluten free Christmas sides are all delicious, easy to make, and most importantly, nobody would even notice the difference.

Christmas dinner is often a minefield for coeliacs, with kitchen chaos meaning the risk of cross contamination with gluten-containing foods can be high.
But actually there’s not reason not to make all your Christmas dinner sides gluten free – a lot of them are naturally gluten free anyway or just need some simple swaps.
From crispy roast potatoes to cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings, gravy and even bread sauce, you can make your entire dinner gluten free and coeliac-safe.
Top Tips For Avoiding Cross Contamination
If you’re baking a gluten free Christmas dinner for someone with coeliac disease, you’ll need to make sure you eliminate any risk of cross contamination too!
Some of the key things you can do to minimise gluten cross-contact when cooking are:
- Wash hands and work surfaces before starting any food preparation.
- Ensure all your equipment has been washed well.
- Never prepare gluten free food in a floury atmosphere.
- Keep all gluten free food stored away from gluten-containing food.
- Be careful when using a fan oven often used for baking goods with lots of loose flour.
There are lots of top tips for avoiding cross contamination on the Coeliac UK website as well as tips for caterers if you are looking to offer gluten free Christmas dinners at your venue.
