Waitrose's Gluten Free Sandwiches

For those of you who have read my reviews on the GF Starbucks and Marks & Spencer sandwiches, here's a new choice to add to your lunchtimes!

Waitrose have added some new gluten free sandwiches to their Good to Go range!

Good to go...good enough for me!

When I stopped by my local Waitrose having heard the news, I manged to pick up this Prawn Mayo sandwich - and here's what I thought!

The sandwich was a great size, and looked pretty packed full! Unlike the non-gluten free version, mine also had salad (which my boyfriend was a little miffed about!)

On opening the sandwich, the bread was a little funny shaped (as all GF seems to be!) and was over flowing a little with filling - but I'm certainly not complaining about that!

I'm really glad that Waitrose have brought out this option - as there is one close to my house and it's made grabbing lunch on the way to uni (for my last few days anyway!!) much easier!

The bread was the same as most gluten free bread - and wasn't too dry due to the mayonnaise-y filling.

The prawn mayo was nice, but it had quite a strong lemon flavour - not too over powering, but a little much for my liking!

Overall, it was a good sandwich - and it's so nice to be able to grab lunch on the go!

Convenience is one of the most difficult things to find being a coeliac.

As much as I applaud all the new gluten free products out there, it is the convenient, eat-on-the-go foods that REALLY make the difference to my lifestyle!

Have you tried the new Waitrose sandwiches? What did you think? Comment below and let me know your thoughts!

Stopped at the Waitrose in Membury Services on the M4 and saw both Prawn Mayo and Egg Salad as gluten free options. (This place really spoils us, due to it also having a Starbucks too!)

Anyway, it's great to have more choice for my coeliac girlfriend. I bought both sandwiches and the Prawn Mayo is definitely the way to go. Whilst the Marks and Spencers in service stations don't seem to be adding Gluten Free sandwiches to their menu, I shall definitely add Waitrose on my list of places to stop on the motorway!

Stumbled upon your blog whilst looking for GF information for a newly diagnosed friend and just wanted to congratulate you on it. It contains some great recipes and tips even for a long-standing coeliac (I have been coeliac for over 10 years). Will definitely be following it from now on.

Thankyou Erica! I was really shocked to find hardly any info on this at all, it was only after a chance trip I found them! Odd that Waitrose have not publicised this a bit more, but glad you have found them now and I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think! X
