The Easiest No-Bake Cereal Bars with 5 Ingredients!

- Why choose this recipe? These no-bake cereal bars are my go-to when I need a sweet treat but don’t have the time (or energy!) to bake. So simple to make using gluten free cereal, peanut butter and honey – I often have them as a pre-gym snack!
- Great for Kids: This recipe is perfect for kids’ lunchboxes, and they’ll love getting involved with making them too. No hot ovens or sharp tools!
- Cereal of choice: I usually make these with gluten free cornflakes from the free from aisle, but you could use any gluten free cereal you like, such as gluten free puffed rice. They’re very adaptable!
- Updated for 2025: I first published this gluten free cereal bars recipe in 2019 as a sponsored post with a brand, but new for July 2025 I’ve tweaked it to make it even better and given it some fresh photos, including new step-by-step pics.

Don’t just take my word for it…
Fellow free from blogger Alice also baked these and shared them on Facebook saying: “I used The Gluten Free Blogger‘s recipe from over on her website and adapted a couple of the ingredients to make them dairy free & vegan too! (Using a dairy free butter & chocolate plus maple syrup instead of honey) – they are so delish and a great way to use up cereal.”

Ingredients and Substitutions
There’s a printable recipe card below for these no bake cornflake bars with the full quantities. But here are the main ingredients and ideas for any swaps.
- Gluten Free Corn Flakes: Any free from brand will work for this – some supermarket corn flakes are gluten free but you’ll need to double check with Coeliac UK.
- Peanut Butter: Use crunchy or smooth, or substitute for almond or cashew butter. For a nut free recipe, use sunflower seed butter.
- Honey: You can also use maple syrup if you prefer.
- Butter: Or use a vegan butter if you need gluten and dairy free cereal bars.
- Chocolate: I used a mixture of dark and white chocolate, but use whichever chocolate you like best. For dairy free use a vegan chocolate.

No Bake Cereal Bars Recipe
Equipment
Ingredients
- 200 g gluten free corn flakes
- 200 g peanut butter, (or nut butter of choice)
- 125 ml honey
- 50 g unsalted butter
- 200 g chocolate, (I used a 50:50 split of dark and white chocolate)
Instructions
- Line a 8-inch square baking tin with baking paper and set to one side.
- Add the gluten free corn flakes to a food processor and blitz – you don't want it to be ground down to a powder, aim for a breadcrumb-type consistency with a few chunkier flakes. Empty into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the butter, peanut butter and honey to a heatproof bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until melted. (You can also do this in a saucepan over a low heat if you prefer).
- Pour the peanut mixture over the blended flakes and mix together until the flakes are fully coated. Pour the mixture into the lined baking tin and press down firmly so the entire bottom is covered and compacted down. Place the tray in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Melt the chocolate (either in a bowl over hot water or in 30-second intervals in the microwave) and then pour over the chilled cereal base. Spread evenly and place back in the fridge for 30-60 minutes until set, before cutting into 8 bars or 16 squares.
Notes
- Storing: These no bake cereal bars will keep for up to a week in the fridge.
- Weighing Scales vs Cups: You can toggle this recipe card to convert the ingredients into cups. However, I always recommend using weighing scales – these are cheap to buy and much more accurate. And in gluten free baking, a tiny variation can make a huge difference!
- Step-by-Step Photos: Check out the blog post above for step-by-step photos to show how this cereal bars recipe should look at each stage.
- Like this Recipe? It would mean SO much to me if you could leave a 5* review and a little comment about this No Bake Cereal Bars recipe. I’d love to know how you enjoyed yours or what toppings you chose, and any reviews REALLY help support my website. So thank you! xx

Loving your recipes Sarah. Am making the Nutella brownies this evening. Quick favour or question please – on the nutrition side could you clarify if the kcals etc are for the full recipe? I presume I divide it by how many squares I make from then? Thanks
