Do you struggle to find gluten free breakfast ideas? Sometimes it can be really difficult to find gluten free breakfast options which are quick and easy to prepare. And if you’re dairy free or vegan too, it can seem even more difficult. But rest assured, it doesn’t have to be! I’ve teamed up with FREEE – who have a fabulous range of organic gluten free and vegan breakfast cereals – to show you that eating a quick gluten free breakfast is simple. As easy, in fact, as one, two FREEE!
My Mum always told me breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I’ve been brought up never to skip it. I honestly believe that eating nutritious food at the start of the day sets you up right. And I absolutely love experimenting with breakfast foods – it’s my favourite meal of the day! I know a lot of people struggle with motivation and time in the morning, which is why I’ve come up with these three breakfast ideas which can all be either thrown together in five minutes, or made the night before so you can grab and run.
Three easy gluten free breakfast ideas
In this blog post I’ve created three gluten free breakfast recipes:
- Gluten free and vegan carrot cake porridge
- PB&J gluten free and vegan overnight oats
- Easy no-bake gluten free and vegan cereal bars
But before we get to that, let me start by telling you a little about the FREEE breakfast range. You may know them better for their baking products (I use them allllllll the time!) but did you know they also have a breakfast range which are gluten free, vegan and organic?
In the FREEE range you’ll find:
- Gluten Free Organic Porridge Oats
- Gluten Free Organic Cereal Flakes
- Gluten Free Organic Fibre Flakes
- Gluten Free Organic Corn Flakes
- Gluten Free Organic Chocolate Stars
If like me you’re a real cereal fan, you’ll know what a treat it is to find such an awesome range when you have coeliac disease! I think the FREEE range is so versatile – great for a quick bowl of cereal when you need it, but also a fab base for getting more creative in the kitchen. Which, as you know, is what I love to do the most!
So, if like me you’re always desperate to get cracking on breakfast, here are my three super easy gluten free breakfast ideas!
Gluten free carrot cake porridge
My first recipe uses the FREEE Gluten Free Organic Porridge Oats, which I really love. They are wholegrain gluten free oats and just make the best porridge texture. And when it’s cold outside, who doesn’t love a nice bowl of hot porridge!?
This gluten free porridge recipe is also vegan and can easily be made the night before and warmed up if you’re short on time. The cinnamon gives it a really warming flavour, plus you’re getting some veg with the carrot. What a great start to the day – and the orange colour can’t help but start the day with a smile, right!?
Gluten free & vegan carrot cake porridge
This carrot cake porridge is gluten free and vegan and can be thrown together in just a few minutes. A perfect warming winter breakfast!
Ingredients
- [80 g FREEE Gluten Free Organic Porridge Oats]
- 400 ml unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 carrot, (grated)
- 8 pecan halves
Instructions
- Add the oats, grated carrot, cinnamon, maple syrup and almond milk to a saucepan and stir well.
- Place over a lot heat and, stirring occasionally to stop it sticking, heat for 4-5 minutes. The porridge will start to thicken as it heats up.
- Remove from the heat, pour between two bowls and top with the pecan nuts. Serve hot.
Notes
This recipe makes enough for two (or one giant bowl!) but can be kept in the fridge for 2-3 days and reheated, if you wanted to make a big batch to save time in the mornings.
