Creamy Garlic Pasta Ingredients

There’s a full printable recipe card below with the quantities but here’s some information about the ingredients needed for this creamy garlic pasta.

  • Gluten Free Pasta: You can use any pasta for this recipe by my favourites are gluten free tagliatelle or gluten free penne, as the tubes suck up all the sauce! I am a big fan of the Juvela gluten free pasta range (available on their website) or either the Tesco, Asda or Morrison’s gluten free pastas in terms of value for money.
  • Butter: You can use any butter for this but I’d recommend using it over oil. It helps to add a lovely flavour and creaminess to the sauce.
  • Garlic: I use frozen chopped garlic out of pure laziness but you can use jarred garlic or use 3 cloves of garlic and peel and finely chop/crush them.
  • Single Cream: You could also use double cream for this recipe if you like. I haven’t tried this with a dairy free alternative so I’m not sure how well it would work.
  • Parmesan Cheese: Any dried, hard cheese will work in this recipe. It helps to bring the sauce together as well as adding an amazing depth of flavour.
  • Chilli Flakes: These are completely optional but I like to sprinkle some on top for a fiery kick. You can of course leave these out if you don’t like the heat.

Don’t forget all of the quantities for this creamy garlic pasta are below in the printable recipe card, along with the method.

How to make this creamy garlic gluten free pasta

Making this gluten free pasta dish honestly couldn’t be more simple.

It’s a really quick dinner idea which is ready in less than 10 minutes.

The first thing you need to do is get the gluten free pasta cooking – see my top tips below to get this just right.

While the pasta is cooking you can make the sauce.

First fry the garlic in the butter, then stir in the other ingredients et voila – your creamy sauce is ready to go.

Once the pasta is cooked strain it then add it straight into the sauce, swirling it round so it’s coated evenly.

Eat it straight away and that’s it – so simple!

You could of course customise this by adding in some veg like peppers or tomatoes, or even some chorizo, bacon or cooked chicken.

But the beauty of this dish for me is in it’s simplicity.

I like to reserve it for those night’s I’m short on time and energy but feel like I need something comforting.

This gluten free creamy garlic pasta is basically a giant hug in a bowl!

How to cook gluten free pasta

I know some people struggle with cooking gluten free pasta so I have some top tips to get it right each time.

Unlike ‘normal’ pasta, you must ensure the water is boiling before adding the pasta.

Fill a pan with water, salt it well, and then bring to a nice, rolling boil.

Once boiling, drop the pasta in, stir, and then try and get it back to the boil as quickly as possible – I tend to pop the lid back on.

Once it’s gently boiling, give it another stir and then continue stir every now and then while it cooks.

Most gluten free pasta varies in how long it takes to cook so use the pack instructions as a guideline.

However, I tend to check the pasta a couple of minutes before the time is up because some of them don’t take as long to cook as they say.

As soon as the pasta is cooked you’ll need to strain it – if you keep it in the pan it will just turn to mush.

If you’re not ready to add it to your sauce yet, give it a quick rinse in the colander then keep it to one side until you’re ready for it.

My creamy garlic pasta recipe

This recipe makes enough for two people – the portions will look small-ish but it is quite creamy and filling.

I’d recommend serving it up with a side of gluten free garlic bread for the ultimate treat.

Or you can easily increase the quantities (or decrease) to feed as many people as you need to.

However you eat it, this creamy gluten free pasta sauce really is simple comfort food at its best.

Gluten Free Creamy Garlic Pasta

Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

This gluten free creamy garlic pasta is a super simple, 10-minute dinner. Cook the creamy sauce while the gluten free pasta cooks and it'll be on the table in record time - pure comfort food!

Ingredients

  • 150g gluten free pasta (I used tagliatelle)
  • 1 tbsp (ish) of butter
  • 3 tsp chopped garlic
  • 100ml single cream
  • 3 tbsp Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Chilli flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start the gluten free pasta cooking as per the pack instructions. My pro tips for cooking gluten free pasta are to always make sure the water is boiling before you add the pasta, and give it a good stir to stop it sticking together. I like to salt my water heavily and get it back to the boil as quickly as possible once the pasta is in there, then leave it on a rolling boil, stirring occasionally.
  2. When the pasta is about 5 minutes away from being cooked, start the sauce. Melt the butter in a large frying pan over a low heat.
  3. Add the garlic and fry gently for 2-3 minutes until it softens.
  4. Pour in the cream and add the parmesan. Season generously with salt and pepper and then stir together, keeping on a low heat. Try not to let it bubble up and boil.
  5. Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and immediately add to the frying pan. Stir gently to coat the pasta in the sauce – trying not to break it up too much. Serve immediately with extra black pepper and a pinch of chilli flakes if desired.

Notes

  • This gluten free creamy garlic pasta is best eaten fresh.

  1. I have recently come across gluten free pasta by a company called Zenb. It’s the best GF pasta ever – nice colour and it doesn’t turn to sludge. My husband likes it too so it’s a bonus not to have two lots of pasta on the go. They have recently added a new quick cook pasta to their range. I am not connected to the company in any way – just a grateful customer.
