As all Coeliacs will know, it’s easy for your stomach/intestines to get irritated about something when you have a gluten-intolerance. The gluten damages the villi of your intestine, leaving it weak.

A minty refreshment after meals

Sometimes it’s easy to eat gluten by accident, and even the tiniest bit can flare up your symptoms. But now I’ve discovered peppermint tea, which is an amazing natural way to help soothe your bowels when they aren’t feeling their best.

Peppermint tea is renowned for soothing digestive ailments. Just like you would take indigestion tablets, this can be taken in the same way. I always find that a cup after every meal makes me feel less bloated as well.

At times when I have eaten gluten by accident, I get really bad stomach cramps and I always find that a cup of this settles my stomach better than indigestion tablets would.

Most brands of pure peppermint tea, not blended with anything else, are naturally caffiene free so if you’re feeling ill later in the day, you won’t have to worry about being kept awake all night!

With it’s refreshing taste, peppermint tea is nice to drink after a meal anyway to feel refreshed, and it’s completely natural – free from nasty crap they put in a lot of drinks.

If you’re not too keen on the taste, then try adding honey for a sweeter flavour.

So next time your symptoms flare up, try brewing a cup of peppermint tea and let it work its magic!
