I'm all for quick and easy dinner ideas at the moment and this gluten free houmous pasta recipe with chorizo is a great midweek meal idea.
I've seen people talk about using houmous as a pasta sauce but up until now have never tried it. Now I can't believe I hadn't had it before!
But with some added crispy chorizo, seared plum tomatoes and fresh spinach, plus a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, this gluten free pasta recipe is just fantastic!

Houmous in gluten free pasta?
The houmous brings a real creaminess to the dish but it's actually a pretty healthy addition - this dish is packed full of protein!
Plus if you wanted to omit the chorizo, your pasta dish would even be completely vegan.
In fact, I think the original idea of houmous as a pasta sauce came from the vegan movement.
It adds a kind of creamy texture and taste without the need for any dairy - though if you're not vegan the chorizo just takes it to a whole new level.

A quick gluten free pasta dish
This creamy houmous pasta will take less than 15 minutes to make so it's perfect for a night when it's too hot to cook, or you're short on time.
What's even better is this gluten free pasta recipe can also be eaten cold, though gluten free pasta tends to be best when eaten fresh and when still hot.
This makes it perfect for picnics as well as being served as part of a salad spread, party food buffet or as a gluten free BBQ side.
It's a truly versatile dish and I think this gluten free pasta recipe is one which will be added to our weekly meal plan quite a lot!

What ingredients do I need to make this pasta?
This gluten free pasta recipe with houmous only needs a few simple ingredients and most of them you'll probably have in stock.
I used Tesco gluten free penne and conchiglie (shells) pasta mixed together as I a) like to live life on the edge and b) didn't have enough of either on their own!
I think mixing up your pasta shapes makes it way more fun but of course, you can make this whichever pasta you like!
As well as 300g of gluten free pasta, to make this for two people you'll need:
- 100g diced chorizo
- 1 pot (200g) houmous
- 100g spinach
- Handful plum tomatoes
- The juice of half a lemon
- Salt and pepper
And that's it! A super simple ingredients list and a gluten free pasta recipe that's ready in less than 15 minutes! Keep scrolling for the full recipe...

My gluten free pasta recipe
This gluten free pasta recipe with houmous makes enough for two people - so it's easy to up-size or down-size the quantities depending on how many people you're feeding.
You can also make this ahead of time and eat it cold, though I do find gluten free pasta works best when eaten hot and freshly cooked.
