Since discovering the Baked To Taste brand and ordering samples of pretty much every single product they made for the shop I worked in, they have become one of my favourite gluten free brands.

I have previously reviewed their delicious Devon Steak Pasty, and ready-roll pastry, but their Caramelised Red Onion and Goat’s Cheese tart tops the entire lot.

I have always, ALWAYS wanted to try a goat’s cheese tart – they are the kind of dish I drool over and watch with ear-bursting steams envy as other people enjoy.

And now, finally, I have managed to try one – and it was even betterthan I could have imagined.

Baked at Gas 4 for 15 minutes (or 30 mins from frozen) this graceful tart was light, creamy and a marvellous waltz of flavours.

The sweet, beautiful onions complimented the tangy goat’s cheese, and it was all cradled within a crisp pastry case.

I have every admiration for Baked To Taste’s shortcrust pastry – it is simply the best gluten free pastry I have ever tasted.

This really is a treat – and was completely devoured within minutes!

I got mine from the shop I used to work at – Surfing Croyde Bay (The Old Cream Shop) in Croyde, North Devon, and (bit of a plug for them here, but they are worth it!) they stock a great range of other gluten free tarts, pasties and pies.

And I love Baked To Taste even more because they are from DEVON!!

  1. I was all set to order this when I realized you are in Devon. I’ve been to Devon – Branscome to be exact – but, alas, I live in Maine in the U.S.
