Christmas coffees at Costa Coffee – what’s gluten free?

***Updated for 2016!***

Every year I get asked a lot on my Facebook page which of the Costa Coffee Christmas range is gluten free.
On a mission to find out, I contacted Costa hoping for some quick answers and was presented with an 85-page pdf file to trawl through. Yes, it’s great that I can find all the products on here, but not great I have to scour through all this data to find it!
So to help you out, I thought I would break it down for you.
One coffee gluten free, the other gluten filled!

For Costa’s seasonal range, here’s the low down:

  • Amaretto latte – gluten free
  • Spiced apple – gluten free
  • Black forest hot chocolate – gluten free
  • Salted caramel cappucino – gluten free
  • Gingerbread and cream latte- contains wheat (It’s worth noting here that this does come with a mini gingerbread man on top, the standard gingerbread latte is gluten free)
  • Toasted marshmallow hot chocolate – gluten free
  • Mint hot chocolate – gluten free
  • Honeycomb latte – cross contamination warnings for gluten
  • Lindt hot chocolate – gluten free
  • Orange hot chocolate – gluten free

I always go to Costa and have never had a problem with any of their drinks. I have also tried the honeycomb hot chocolate and not had any ill effects – but it is down to each individual as to whether you’d be willing to take the risk of possible cross contamination. For the record, this was also delicious! I’ve also tried the salted caramel latte which was nice, and next on my list is the hot spiced apple which sounds divine.

I have blogged before about the gluten free chocolate brownies (amazing!) offered by Costa and the gluten free mini bakewells, but they also have a gluten free Christmas cake coming back this year according to their nutrition data, which is marked gluten free and vegan. I’m not a fan of Christmas cake but this does look good and I’ve heard good things about it – so I will have to keep you posted!

Costa coffee gluten free Christmas wrap

There is also a turkey, bacon and cranberry gluten free wrap which is back too – this is pretty tasty but I find the wraps do stick to your teeth a little. There’s lots of filling though which is great and it kept me feeling pretty full for most of the afternoon.

I hope this helps a little when enjoying a festive treat – and saves you trawling through an 85 page document! Enjoy!
